    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer-related field or equivalent technical training strongly preferred. Applicable technology training experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of practical experience.
    • Four (4) years of combined programming experience in languages such as Perl/PHP/Ruby/Python/Java/etc., and experience with HTML/CSS/Javascript, etc.
    • Knowledge of relational database and query language use. Functional and administrative knowledge of Windows, Mac OS, and Linux/Unix operating systems.
    • Must work well with end-users to determine needed requirements, respond to questions and issues, and promote a high degree of customer satisfaction.
    • Must be comfortable with training adults in technology tools and concepts.

    • Job Summary: The system and database administrator designs and maintains database programs for student records management and business operations; designs, modifies, maintains, and documents user reports generated from the student records and business databases. Installs, configures, administers, and maintains district core operations servers; develops data and report requirements with district and school administrators, teachers, and other users; ensures availability and data integrity of vital systems through planning and implementing comprehensive backup procedures; and maintains current database data dictionaries and schemas. Researches, recommends, and guides technological implementations of core district systems. Creates and maintains applications.


      Starting Hourly Rate: Grade 6: $68,548.48 - $97,710.08 DOE
      Work Day: 8 hours per day
      Work Year: 12 months
      Retirement: State of Alaska PERS
      Bargaining Unit: Non-Represented
