      In this position you will support the NASA JSC Engineering division. Specifically, you will support the design team for the ARGOS 3 eXploration Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Simulator (AX3S). This includes Systems Engineering support to generate data products required for AX3S, including requirements generation and analysis, Verification and Validation (V&V), risk management planning, and various project management activities including tracking action items, change requests, etc. This will require close coordination with design activities of all major subsystems of the project. Systems Engineering support will also be used to support sustaining Active Response Gravity Offload System ( ARGOS) 2B operations as required. The task also includes software design support, including development of overall software architecture approach including , Graphical User Interface (GUI), and safety systems . The task also includes analysis, mentorship, and assisting in solving multi-discipline engineering problems/conflicts as well as engineering support for overall controls, electrical, power, and communications systems for AX3S and ARGOS 2B. The task also includes purchasing required components for AX3S and ARGOS 2B, Preparing documents for large purchases and coordinating the use of resources from NASA and other NASA contractors

      Must have a strong interest in systems engineering and the initiative and aptitude for hand-on problem solving and troubleshooting; and strong interpersonal skills.



      Required:

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Planner, Project)
      • Bachelors or Advanced Degree in related Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer) or Engineering Management
      • Five (5) years of applicable professional experience which has led to increasing levels of technical and leadership responsibilities
      • Technical, functional, and/or project lead experience in systems engineering or a related technical field
      • Ability to translate concepts across multiple disciplines
      Desired:
      • Familiarity with cranes and/or industrial engineering practices
      • Knowledge of human safety rating processes
      • Systems engineering certification and/or formal training
      • Background in robotics, mechanical, electrical or software engineering
      • Background in human spaceflight mission full life cycle activities
      • EVA systems engineering experience
      • Experience with NASA or DoD Work Instructions and MBSE practices
      Citizenship or lawful permanent residency required due to federal position.
