      Location: Canton, MI USA

      What we are looking for:

      Yazaki is looking for an Engineer - Systems to join our OEM business unit in Canton, MI. This person will create and document RFQ designs. Analyze marketing documentation and develop complexity. Design power distribution, grounding, wire and protection device sizing and inlines. Develop and maintain schematics.

      What you will be doing:

      Request for Quote (RFQ)

      • Receive customer RFQ information (3D, 2D, schematic, circuit lists, etc.) and review for technical feasibility.
      • Support RFQ Technical Review with customer
      • Investigate new technology and integrate into the design where applicable
      • Create and document RFQ design (i.e. 2D drawing, schematics, 3D design, discrepancies, assumptions as applicable)

      Complexity Analysis

      • Analyze and breakdown the customer marketing documentation (i.e. PDL, STV, PPC)
      • Generate proposals for optimizing harness complexity including giveaway analyses and OEM marketing change recommendations in order to reduce the total part count
      • Develop and maintain the build level complexity charts

      Power Distribution, Signal and Grounding

      • Design power distribution, grounding, wire and protection device sizing and inlines to ensure customer standards, specifications, and guidelines are met
      • Create, develop, and maintain logical and physical schematics with the use of customer data per statement of work
      • Develop and maintain vehicle level topology
      • Perform, review, analyze, and sign-off circuit simulation / calculations to verify design per statement of work
      • Perform architecture optimization studies

      Customer and Internal Design Requirements

      • Evaluate design information provided by the customer for completeness and accuracy and track internally (i.e. schematics, subsystem requirements, circuit lists, marketing doc's, etc.)
      • Support selection of appropriate components (i.e. relays, connectors, accessories, etc.) to meet vehicle specifications
      • Interface with DVP team to validate customer requirements (i.e. customer requirement validation, load survey, short circuit, etc.)
      • Collaborate with Design Release Engineers and Application Engineers to define vehicle requirements and review 2D prints

      Engineering Customer Interface

      • Review customer documents such as owner’s guide, dealership repair manuals, troubleshooting manuals and assembly plant repair manuals per customer request
      • Support vehicle builds and launches at customer pilot and assembly plants

      Continuous Improvement of the Design

      • Generate cost savings ideas and attend VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering) workshops
      • Trace technical issues and problems to root cause
      • Support customer initiatives such as cost and warranty reduction activities, etc.

      What you will bring to the table:

      • BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
      • Minimum 5 years of automotive experience
