Primary Duties
1. Performs administrative activities and provides guidance on physical server hardware, virtual compute resources (CPU, memory, network, and storage), operating systems, and related components across a complex stack in on-premises, private cloud, and public cloud infrastructures, providing hands-on administrative and support activities as necessary.
2. Supports the process of technical information collection, planning, and analysis, standards development, systems administration, maintenance process definitions, and prioritizations for existing systems, projects, and related IT operating system procedures and policies.
3. Manages and reports on the historical data collection software and activities to support trend reporting and monitoring of systems usage, capacity, maintenance, and performance for regular reviews.
4. Develops and manages technical documentation libraries that provide end-users, system owners, IT staff, and IT management configuration and implementation details.
5. Develops and manages technical documentation on activities related to maintaining effective systems security, backup/recovery processes, and Disaster recovery systems/site methods and processes.
6. Research technical information relating to changes in Information Technology-related disciplines, regulations, trends, and advances; provides recommendations for configuration or process changes; implements agreed/approved changes.
7. Develops technical materials and conducts education for end-users and IT staff in areas of specialized discipline.
8. Networks and liaisons with outside organizations, vendors, and other resources in development of Information Technology programs to enhance IT system administration processes, ensure systems compliance with Company policies and procedures, and provide service level agreements.
Educational/Experience Level
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field and three years of experience in computer programming and operating systems analysis; or equivalent or Associates degree in computer systems and 5 years of experience in computer programming and operating systems analysis.
Communication Skills
Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or information on technical concepts to individuals.
Numeric Skills
Requires the ability to perform analyses involving ratios, percentages, and simple statistical methods.
Computer Skills
Requires a high level of computer skills to use various software packages as well as a familiarity with hardware configurations to perform systems administration.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 47 pounds from the ground to 5 inches. (Ex: lifting equipment).
Ability to lift 25 pounds from 56 inches to 72 inches. (Ex: lifting servers and equipment).
Ability to lift 25 pounds from the ground to 57 inches. (Ex: lifting batteries and equipment).
Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds. (Ex: lifting and carrying ladder).
Ability to ascend/descend 8 rungs on a ladder.
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch.
Ability to generate 35-foot pounds of upward force. (Ex. lifting floor tiles).
Work Conditions
Works in an office environment. Requires occasionally performing activities including, but not limited to, bending, stooping, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning and/or lifting.
