- Associates degree in computer science or equivalent is preferred

- MCP or MCSE
- Minimum of 6 years in PC support and a minimum of 3 years working in a Windows Server/Active Directory network environment
- One year of experience in software testing and technical writing
- Comprehensive knowledge of Windows 7/10, Server 2012/2016
- Experience with MDM/EMM preferred
- Knowledge of Android/iOS management in enterprise environment
- Experience with software distribution/package development
- Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Design and Architecture
- Thorough understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP,
- LAN/WAN design and maintenance, and various wireless technologies and encryption schemes
- Strong knowledge of PC/MAC hardware and software
- Ability to work effectively within a team and demonstrate leadership
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong customer service skills and experience
Daily proactive monitoring and logging of server activity. This includes disk space, memory utilization, CPU utilization, and all related logs and activity-based reporting. Respond proactively to suspected issues, document issues within HEAT Call Tracking System, analyze, recommend and execute tasks to handles all identified and suspected issues.
Maintain data files and monitor server systems configuration to ensure data integrity and growth planning. Work with users to develop solutions for user-reported issues, coordinate required changes to systems, create and maintain system documentation related to day to day problems, including backup and recovery.
Maintain server software level by applying necessary and consistent software patches to Operating Systems and associated server components to ensure the servers are operating at optimal level and are secured against known vulnerabilities. Understand and be aware of all newly released documentation regarding vulnerabilities and symptoms of potential threats to providing service to the user community.
Work with the Project Office and Application Services departments on projects related to system upgrades and implementations. Act as knowledge expert on project core teams during all phases of the project life cycle. Act as primary resource on assigned projects for executing all assigned tasks and reporting status and issues to the Project Manager. Develop test plans, required documentation, and complete all tasks related to the project based on a project plan. Recommend operational procedures required for the implementation of new, replacement or upgraded hardware and server systems.
Adhere to and support the IT principles: Integrity, Customer Service, Communication, Teamwork and Leadership. Support the ongoing organizational development program branded “IT-STAT: Information Technology – Service Today and Tomorrow”.
Work closely with the Data Security Administrator to ensure all systems are being maintained according to HIPAA regulations and all internal policies generated within the IT Department.
Act as an integral member of the HCHS I.S. Disaster Recovery Team, following documented HCHS disaster recovery plans and procedures.
Performs related duties as required.

Summary
The Systems Engineer is responsible for four different areas: production support, customer support, project support and innovation. Production support consists of resolving any and all end user device related issues. Customer support as it relates to the escalation of end user issues that require and advanced level of IT support. Project support as it relates to organizing and managing resources as assigned by the corresponding Project Manager, in such a way that all the work required to complete the project are within the agreed upon defined scope, time and cost constraints. Developing innovative uses of existing or emerging technologies for the betterment of Halifax Health.
