- Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Data Engineering, Software Engineering, System Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.

- Must have ability to adapt and want to learn diverse engineering disciplines and problem solving
- Interest in the department of defense problem space
- Interest in data science and operational research
- Experience with analytics scripting (python, etc.), modeling, simulation and analysis.

The N553 Department manages the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), and the Joint Staff work programs under the N550 Division for Joint Staff and Combatant Commands.
