      Description

      The Systems Engineer will perform technical and skilled duties in the operation of enterprise, client/server, and desktop computer systems and networks. Included are multiple online network systems, auxiliary consoles, and peripheral equipment on electronic computer systems. Responsibilities of this position include performing general server administration tasks, monitoring and optimizing system performance and reliability, performing enhancement upgrades, and providing various levels of support. Additionally, this role requires involvement with cloud integrations, cloud migrations, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and the management of modern backup technologies to ensure efficient, secure, and resilient infrastructure. Responsibilities must be performed in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures

      Essential Functions:

      1. Practice, support, and promote Thunder Valley Casino Resort’s “ELITE” company-wide service mission and demonstrate AAA Four Diamond service standards at all times.

      2. Plan, implement, and support the migration of workloads and applications to cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) while ensuring smooth hybrid cloud integrations.

      3. Assist in the transition to cloud-native architectures, leveraging technologies like containers, Kubernetes, and serverless computing for scalability and efficiency.

      4. Perform live migrations of virtual machines (VMs) using VMware vMotion and manage associated cloud migration strategies.

      5. Manage and support Storage Area Networks (SANs), utilizing Fibre Channel and iSCSI technologies for high-performance storage environments.

      6. Integrate software-defined storage (e.g., VMware vSAN, Microsoft Storage Spaces Direct) into cloud and on-premises environments to meet business storage needs.

      7. Monitor SAN performance, conduct system backups, and ensure high availability and redundancy for critical systems.

      8. Oversee and manage backup solutions for both on-premise and cloud-based environments to ensure secure and reliable data protection, including continuous data protection (CDP) and cloud-based backup solutions (e.g., Azure Backup, Rubrik)

      9. Perform regular testing and updates of disaster recovery plans, ensuring systems and data can be restored efficiently after an outage or failure.

      10. Integrate backup technologies across systems and ensure proper documentation of backup configurations.

      11. Resolve complex hardware/software malfunctions in server systems and storage devices.

      12. Provide level 2 or 3 support for both software and hardware issues.

      13. Monitor enterprise server applications and performance, ensuring optimal capacity and utilization of system components.

      14. Document and manage system changes through proper change management processes, including system diagrams and team procedures.

      15. Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to implement system updates, patches, and enhancements.

      16. Service level monitoring for various systems and infrastructure services.

      17. Ensure system reliability by performing upgrades, enhancements, and performance optimization tasks on hardware and software.

      18. Communicate effectively with other IT groups to remain informed on system changes and potential impacts to production.

      Qualifications


      Minimum Qualifications:

      1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

      2. CompTIA Network+ and A+ certifications or equivalent technical experience.

      3. Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) or equivalent technical ability.

      4. Additional certifications including Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent Microsoft certification, Azure Security Engineer Associate or similar certifications in cloud platforms, and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate are preferred.

      5. Windows Server 2019/2022 or equivalent certification is preferred.

      6. Experience with Windows Operating Systems (both client and server environments), including:
      • TCP/IP, Microsoft Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook).
      • Microsoft Exchange 2010-2019, Microsoft Server 2019, Microsoft Server 2022, Windows Server 2022, Active Directory, and Group Policy Management.
      • Server hardware: Including Cisco UCS, HP ProLiant, and associated technologies.
      • Virtualization platforms: Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and the integration of these platforms with cloud solutions.
      • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud technologies like Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
      • Experience in systems backup, disaster recovery, and log analysis.
      • SAN management and experience with storage solutions such as Fibre Channel, iSCSI, or software-defined storage.

      7. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud and their services (e.g., IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).

      8. Knowledge of enterprise-level backup technologies and solutions such as Rubrik, Commvault, and cloud-based backup solutions.

      9. Understanding of SAN, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and software-defined storage architectures.

      10. Experience with server hardware configurations (e.g., Cisco UCS), and familiarity with VMware and Hyper-V platforms.

      11. Proficient with the latest versions of Microsoft Server 2019, Microsoft Server 2022, and Microsoft Windows Server 2022 (Standard, Datacenter editions) and Windows Admin Center.

      12. Must be able to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and management in both written and verbal form.

      13. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply technical information and standards.

      14. Ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships.

      15. Ability to perform elementary business math.

      16. Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

      17. Must be at least 21 years of age.

      18. Must be able to obtain UAIC Tribal Gaming License.


      Physical Requirements:

      1. Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

      2. Must be able to sit for prolonged time periods.

      3. Manual dexterity to use job related equipment.

      4. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

      5. Ability to view a computer monitor for prolonged time periods.
