      Systems Engineer – Mission and Flight Planning and Management Team

      The MV-75 Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) is the Premier Vertical Lift military program in the world. Bell's FLRAA aircraft will become the Army's primary assault aircraft for the next 30 years, advancing the Army's assault capabilities. The FLRAA program is utilizing the latest in cutting edge technology to expand the United States Army’s tactical advantage in future conflicts. The Bell FLRAA team seeks the top engineering talents from around the industry to design, develop, and deliver the world’s next-generation military aircraft.

      The Mission Planning and Management Team is responsible for defining the technical requirements and scope of work for two software subsystems that will perform military and civilian flight planning and flight management functions as well as military mission planning and management functions. The team oversees a major subcontractor’s development of the software and is responsible for integrating the software into the FLRAA mission system and performing formal verification testing of subsystem and weapon system requirements in laboratory and flight test. The Mission and Flight Planning and Management Systems Engineer is responsible for executing the systems engineering processes to oversee subcontractor development of mission and flight planning and management software, to integrate this software into the FLRAA mission system and aircraft system in the Bell Systems Integration Lab (SIL) and to perform integration and verification testing in the SIL and on the prototype aircraft.

      What you’ll be doing as a Mission and Flight Planning and Management Systems Engineer:

      • Subsystem and software requirements development and management
      • Engaging with the customer and the user community to communicate the subsystem design and to understand Army aviation mission and flight planning and the operational environment
      • Translating operational and user needs into use cases and mission scenarios for development into test cases and test procedures
      • Maintaining traceability across requirements, functions, architecture elements, verification methods, and test procedures and results
      • Coordinating across multiple teams for developing a schedule, understanding dependencies, identifying risks, and understanding change propagation and requirements dependencies
      • Participating in the development of the user interface for the mission planning and mission management software
      • Participating in the development of test plans and procedures
      • Tracking and configuration management of the software deliveries from the subcontractor
      • Reviewing subcontractor data deliveries, including software code and executable file deliveries
      • Participating in the DO-178 process, including planning and audit events
      • Use case authoring for supplier and system/SS test procedures (functional, integration and verification testing)
      • Learning to use the Army ground-based mission planning systems for mission planning and flight planning
      • Using and maintaining the government-furnished Army Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS) to create mission plans and flight plans for use by this team and other teams in SIL and flight testing

      Skills You Bring To this Role:

      • Knowledge of the systems engineering discipline with experience applying the technical processes and technical management processes
      • Experience with requirements development and management experience is a must with requirements management in DOORS or CAMEO
      • Experience in reviewing subcontractor technical documentation and software source code/executables
      • Knows UML/SysML with some basic modeling tool experience
      • Understanding of DO-178C preferred
      • Experience with Agile methods preferred

      What you need to be successful:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. Mechanical or Other Engineering degrees may be considered with applicable experience.
      • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a US Govt Secret Security Clearance.
      • At least 5 years of work experience in aerospace systems engineering or software engineering required
      • Experience in the development or certification of flight management systems is a big plus.
