      Basic Qualifications

      To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

      • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical discipline, and 9 years of directly related experience; or a Master's degree and 7 years of related experience
      • Experience as a systems engineer/architect
      • Experience with creating/maintaining Systems Engineering artifacts such as architecture diagrams, ICDs, verification matrices, interface documents, etc
      • Knowledge of systems engineering processes and best practices.
      • A strong background in requirements development/management, development of operational concepts and system architecture.
      • Qualified candidates must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.

      The Work
      Lockheed Martin Rotary & Mission Systems is seeking a full-time Systems Engineer/Architect. This role requires supporting and directing the activities of more junior personnel, as well as providing direct support for translating customer needs and system requirements into a system architecture that will support current and future hardware and software baselines for new designs, modifications, and upgrades. You will conduct technical analysis, trade studies, research, and development to lead system definition and realization activities, resolve issues, and make recommendations. In this role, you will develop and maintain systems engineering-related documentation including:
      • Requirements documents
      • Hardware Baseline Roadmaps
      • System and subsystem design documents
      • Interface Control Documents such as End to Ends/Source Control Drawings
      • Interpret/Derive/Translate customer requirements into next system Hardware and Software designs.
      • Prepare for and conduct milestone reviews including Intermediate Design Reviews to Final Design Reviews
      • Support AGILE process-based development including architecture and engineering spikes to evaluate and provide technical solutions.
      • Support/Lead cross-discipline product and project teams identifying, evaluating, and establishing technical solutions.
      • Perform high-level system analysis and direct technical strategies for future modernization efforts
      • Interface with customers, external partners, and internal partners by supporting program reviews, as well as, team submarine working groups as Imaging representative
      • Collaborate with customers on GFE/GFI updates in support of ongoing evolution of system baselines.

      This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate will be required to hold an active government Secret security clearance.

      Desired skills

      • Experience as a systems engineer/architect on undersea systems development programs.
      • Prior Experience with Agile teams and usage of tools such as JIRA/Redmine, and Confluence.
      • Experience analyzing, developing and/or verifying system requirements, interfaces, and architectures for complex systems.
      • Experience performing technology assessments/evaluations involving one or more of the following; embedded computing, video distribution/processing, software architectures (including virtual machines, and containerization), communications interfaces and networks, and power distribution/control
      • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools and processes. Experience with Cameo is desired.
      • Ability to be a technical representative for the team in customer and internal meetings
      • Prior experience with planning and scheduling project milestones
      • Prior experience leading and defining tasking for early career individuals.
      • Skills in analysis, critical thinking, and technical problem solving.
      • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication skills.
      • Ability to multitask, shift priorities, and be willing to adapt or improve.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

      Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

      National Pay Statement

      Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Washington or Washington DC is $104,500 - $184,115. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
      Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
