- Semester students: May 20th to July 26th
- Quarter students: June 24th to August 30th
- Analyze data being acquired and collected from various stations related to Mechanical/Electrical and Communication equipment.
- Participate in technical and soft skills with the Systems Engineering and Integration team.
- Collaborate with staff across the agency to ensure continuous improvement and best practice is applied to engineering criteria, policies, and procedures

- It is the responsibility of all employees to follow the Agency safety rules, regulations, and procedures pertaining to their assigned duties and responsibilities, which could include systems, operations, and/or other employees
- Develop alarm techniques based on pattern recognition and anomaly detection
- Develop an alarm generation tool to calculate key performance indicators at specified intervals, including charts and graphs to present data in an informative matter
- Basic understanding of principles and practices in electrical engineering discipline
- Basic troubleshooting, diagnostics and root cause analysis ability
- Time management - ability to control workload, prioritize effort, and manage commitments
- Collaboration - ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agency staff, consultants, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and other stakeholder groups
- Communication - ability to communicate clear and accurate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences in verbal and written form
- Meeting management - Able to plan, conduct and record effective meetings
- Systems thinking - ability to understand the whole problem, seek different perspectives, and decompose complex problems into solvable elements
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.

This is a paid internship, range of $19/hr - $35/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Sound Transit’s Systems Engineering and Integration division oversees design, integration and expansion of Systems related to multiple transportation modes throughout the Puget Sound region — Link, Sounder, ST Express, and Tacoma Link. The Systems Engineering Intern — Controls will have an opportunity to be a part of the team that oversees our control and data acquisition services and learn how a large regional transit system is managed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor's or graduate degree program in electrical engineering, computer science or other technical discipline or relevant two-year certificate.
