      Job Description
      The Systems Security Technician reports directly to the Director of Information Technology, and will work with the Director to manage and support all aspects of the organization’s Information Security. This position will work with the Network Technician for security needs and compliance throughout the organization.

      Responsibilities
      Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
      ● Oversee all IT security needs for the University, this includes managing and updating firewalls, servers, and all other networking equipment to ensure that data and systems are secure.
      ● Review all Security logs for Server, Defender, DarkTrace and other reports.
      ● Review user access controls and update for compliance
      ● Threat management and review (Darktrace and Intune)
      ● Proactively monitor performance of all systems, and address issues when they arise.
      ● Conduct user and student phishing training
      ● Create and maintain security and compliance documentation
      ● Manage projects and various tasks as assigned.
      ● Monitor for vulnerabilities and risk
      ● Works collaboratively with all members of the IT team to support the mission of the University.
      ● Monitor and enforce MFA throughout campus
      ● Manage the organization's VOIP telephone system
      ● Leads, installs, configures, operates, monitors, and optimizes virtual and physical networking for both wired and wireless network systems to support University business and IT network infrastructure needs
      ● Responsible for the support and administration of all University datacenter operations, including the administration of on-premise server clusters and on-premise storage devices, and all physical server infrastructure.
      ● Configure and support the student VDI environment
      ● Provides administration of Microsoft Active Directory domains and associated services (DNS, DHCP, GPO’s, SSO, etc.)
      ● Be able to provide advanced troubleshooting for hardware and software related issues for all university IT equipment and software.

      ● Provide technical support for employees and students through the IT support system, and serve in a Tier 2 and Tier 3 capacity for resolution of end user requests.

      Standard Expectations
      ● Experience working with and troubleshooting Windows Server 2008-2019
      ● Experience working with Active Directory (on prem and Azure) and Group Policy
      ● Experience with networking equipment including switches, firewalls, routers and wireless access points
      ● Experience with compliance regulations (NIST, GLBA, ect)
      ● Have an understanding and working knowledge of fundamental network services (TCP/IP services, DNS, DHCP, IP routing, LAN/WAN, etc.)
      ● Understanding of security best practices
      ● Understanding of prioritizing security threats
      ● Experience working with and troubleshooting of Windows operating systems, Windows 7-11
      ● Knowledge of Nutanix AHV, VMWare, Hyper-V, or other virtualized systems is a plus
      ● Linux server administration is a plus
      ● Experience with backup/imaging systems
      ● Knowledge of implementing and supporting enterprise networks in a multi-user environment
      ● Knowledge of network diagnostics tools and software
      ● Experience with Extreme switching and wireless will be a plus
      ● Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds, be comfortable with climbing on ladders, working in attics and underneath floors, and carrying various equipment across campus as needed

      ● Excellent troubleshooting abilities when working on complex issues
      ● Strong attention to detail
      ● Able to multitask effectively when working on several issues at once
      ● Must have field related certifications
      ● Ability to use good judgment and prioritize work effectively
