      Where Will I Work?

      You will work within Florida’s beautiful capital city, Tallahassee, FL. Tallahassee is a city of continued growth and economic development, and home to the campuses of Florida State University (FSU), the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), and Tallahassee Community College (TCC).

      What Will My Role Be?

      If selected for this role, you will be the Talent Engagement and Support Supervisor. The position is vital to the values, mission, and vision of our organization. In this role, you will report directly to the Employee Engagement Officer, performing enterprise-wide recruitment and program administrator activities. The ideal candidate is a great team player who possesses dynamic communication skills and can work well with employees across the organization while overseeing internship programs and coordinating retention initiatives and recognition programs.

      Your duties and responsibilities in this role will be to:

      Supervising staff including (but not limited to) communicating with, coaching, motivating, training, and evaluating direct reports. Planning and directing work of direct reports, and providing support to ensure work is completed accurately, timely, and efficiently. Developing and providing performance expectations, individual training plans, and career plans to direct reports, and documenting results for improvement and quality assurance. Using department and leadership best practices to foster a strong team environment within the unit and helping integrate direct reports into the broader office and department environments.

      Supervising and directing staff in assigned workforce development activities including, but not limited to: Acting as a liaison between the Department and university or college career centers. Coordinating the FDOT Internship program, including, but not limited to: Providing advertised internship positions to university and college contacts, coordinating with Department internship contacts to create and advertise internship positions, developing FDOT Internship Program processes, procedures, manuals, surveys, and templates, and reporting to leadership on the effectiveness of the FDOT Internship Program. Coordinating retention initiatives such as mentoring, career and job fairs, or similar assigned activities. Coordinating awards and recognition initiatives for Department and Central Office employees. Support other required workforce development functions by collaborating statewide and facilitating meetings and workshops.

      Supervising and directing staff in the administration of the Department’s employee survey activities. Examples may include onboarding, exit, and engagement surveys. Survey activities include but are not limited to:

      Developing survey objectives and questions in accordance with the Department’s leadership, promoting and disseminating surveys statewide, analyzing survey results and preparing reports, dashboards, presentations, and briefings for publication and dissemination to Department leadership, providing recommendations to Department leadership on improvements to adopt based on survey results, ensuring overall data integrity of survey data including maintaining effective data governance to protect confidential information, maintaining respondent anonymity when required, and storing survey data and associated materials for long-term planning needs.

      Supervising and directing staff in the administration of other Department activities as assigned including, but not limited to: Maintaining the Department’s quality management procedural documents, managing processes associated with Department quality management efforts, and reporting compliance with quality management procedural documents and processes to Department leadership.

      Perform other duties as required.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skill in using Microsoft 365 applications including, but not limited to Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, or equivalent alternatives. Skill in tracking performance of programs, projects, and people through effective metrics. Ability to supervise others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across generations, job levels, interoffice, and across the Department. Ability to plan, organize, and manage complex work assignments. Ability to research, identify, and implement innovation solutions. Ability to communicate effectively through all channels, including virtually, in person, and in writing, with appropriate tone and body language. Ability to lead presentations, trainings, meetings, conferences, workshops, etc. both in person and virtually. Ability to think critically and problem-solve.
