Job Description

- Ensure that the required approval is received from Group Treasury in advance of creating an exposure
- Manage foreign currency transactions including foreign currency payments in accordance with the exchange control guidance, Treasury Policy and other applicable legislation for UAE
- Executing all foreign transactions through Group Treasury to ensure benefits arising from netting and pricing are achieved
- Managing and ensuring appropriate recording of all foreign currency exposures in accordance with Group Treasury Policy
- Preparing the cash forecasts ensuring alignment with the capital forecasts, discrepancies are identified and reported as well as providing commentaries
- Ensure payments are executed efficiently and timely with detailed documentation.
- File proof of payments (e.g., Debit advice, Swift confirmation) and provide suppliers with the necessary documentation after payments are processed.
- Managing of funding requirements for the export marketing team and evaluate investment opportunities to optimize returns on surplus cash.
- Manage banking relationships with local financial institutions including banks, fund managers, guarantee providers, etc
- Perform procedures to ensure core accounting processes of Treasury etc. are compliant with other policies and guidelines set by the Group
- Bachelor’s degree in financial management or related disciplines (NQF level 7) or international equivalent
- Applicable certifications i.e.: CPA/CIMA etc
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in treasury management in the United Arab Emirates
- Previous experience in a similar role within a commodity trading company (advantageous)
- Emerging knowledge of various SAP products i.e., SAP S4 HANA, SAP IBP and SAP CTRM
- Knowledge of various SAP products i.e., SAP S4 HANA, SAP IBP and SAP CTRM.
- Proficient knowledge of safety, risk and stakeholder management
- UAE Labour law
- UAE Federal Tax Law
- Applicable financial legislation in the UAE
- Sarbanes-Oxley Act

The purpose of the Treasury Specialist is to take responsibility for the treasury management in terms of the approved Treasury Policy of the Export Marketing function in the United Arab Emirates.

Thungela Resources [Thungela means “to ignite” in isiZulu] is a leading South African thermal coal business, focused exclusively on thermal coal production. It is one of the largest pure-play producers and exporters of thermal coal in South Africa based on aggregate coal reserves and marketable coal production. Thungela focuses on exporting its thermal coal portfolio mainly to the Indian, Asian, Southeast Asian, Middle East and North African markets.
Job Description
As the Treasury specialist you will support the Financial Manager to execute all Treasury functions in line with the treasury policies for the applicable registered companies and special purpose vehicles (SPVs) in the United Arab Emirates.
