      Tax Specialist I @ Tax Office (Internal employees must use the internal link to login & apply.) https://aisd.tedk12.com/hire/internalLogin.aspx Primary Purpose:To assist in effectively administering and expeditiously collecting the ad valorem taxes of the district. Qualifications: Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED Must have an Associate’s Degree or have a minimum of 48 semester hours of higher education coursework or pass a district test Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance Ability to use software to obtain tax records, information, and to do tax payment functions Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Professional demeanor and appearance Knowledge of the Texas Properties Tax Code Ability to work effectively with cash flow Ability to develop Excel spreadsheets and capable to use Microsoft Word Experience: Three (3) years of tax office experience Major Responsibilities and Duties: Clerical Support Open all incoming mail, sort and distribute as appropriate. Type all letters, forms, reports, notices, etc. Receive, refer or handle all incoming phone calls and assist taxpayers in locating properties in the office or by phone. Order and maintain supplies as needed. Maintain a regular filing system ad process incoming correspondence. Work cash payment window. Calculate Harris County Appraisal District changes in values. Records and Reports Work with tax certificates when requested. Assist with the collection process. Process purchase orders and check requisitions. Help process mortgage company statement requests and mailing of tax statements. Assist with supplement and correction rolls. Other Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None EvaluationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Non-Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.
