      This position is a member of our Monitoring Division.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO

      As a part of the division’s Monitoring team, our Data Analyst II will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

      • Serve as the primary contact for ambient air monitoring site information updates/requests. Create and maintain site, sampler, and monitor information in the Texas Air Monitoring Information System and the EPA Air Quality System (AQS) using information provided by project managers, regional staff, and other TCEQ personnel
      • Assist in the planning and coordination of the development and maintenance of TCEQ information systems, including user interfaces, web pages, and reports. Maintain, evaluate, and test assigned in-house databases and recommends information system solutions
      • Maintain and enhance knowledge of TCEQ information systems; analyze and generate ad hoc and routine data reports for internal and external customers
      • Identify and verify data discrepancies between data systems; assist in developing and deploying methods used to correct data issues. Participate in cross-functional team projects and make recommendations involving project decisions
      • Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for TAMIS Application Administration and other related projects. Ensure materials posted on agency web sites conform to agency standards, including accessibility standards

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Five years of full-time experience in conducting quality assurance and quality control of data, data review and reconciliation, data research, or data compilation; and/or data reporting work.

      OR

      A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in basic science, computer science, environmental studies, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; plus one year of the required experience.

      OR

      A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; plus two years of the required experience.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Experience entering and maintaining information in relational database
      • Experience creating, analyzing, summarizing, and/or reviewing reports from relational databases
      • Experience planning and/or coordinating the development and/or maintenance of information systems, which may include database schemas, user interfaces, web pages, and reports
      • Experience identifying and troubleshooting data discrepancies between data systems
      • Experience creating maps using ESRI ArcGIS
