      TELEWORK

      This position offers an opportunity for a hybrid work schedule with a minimum 2-day work in office at our Houston office.

      This position is a member of our Coastal & East Texas Division.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO

      As a part of the division’s Coastal & East Texas team, our Environmental Investigator II will play a key role in achieving TCEQ’s mission. You would use your skills and experience to:

      • Conduct technical inspections, surveys, and follow-up investigations; prepare reports which documents field activities and observed conditions.
      • Conduct environmental monitoring and prepare technical papers regarding studies involving environmental subjects
      • Provide technical assistance to the public, regulated community, and other interested groups regarding the application of appropriate regulations
      • Assist with collecting and analyzing environmental samples

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field generally preferred, but not required.

      OR

      Four years of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities directly related to the examples of work performed.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Experience interpreting or applying rules, regulations, policies or procedures
      • Experience conducting environmental investigations

      CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

      This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Natural Resources Specialist II-IV state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Investigator II-IV series.
