      YOUR FUTURE TEAM

      As part of TCEQ’s Office of Air, you would contribute to protecting and restoring Texas’ air quality. See details about what we do. The selected candidate will be a member of the Air Permits Division.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO

      This position is a member of our Air Permits Division.

      You would use your skills and experience to:

        • Review routine air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established timeframes.
        • Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, determining appropriate federal and state requirements, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries.
        • Prepare public notice authorizations and completes associated tasks.
        • Assist in developing new and/or revised Requirements Reference Tables (RRT) for state and federal regulations, including Citation
        • Entry Screens (CES), Relationship Entry Screen (RES), and flowcharts.
        • Identify and assist with developing downstream products of RRT, including logical solution sets, forms, and guidance documents.
        • Perform other tasks associated with the inclusion of the logical solution sets in APD’s Information Management System (IMS).
        • Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
        • Attend and assist in technical training activities concerning federal operating permit reviews.
        • Participate in division, section, and team meetings.
        • Assist in the development and maintenance of technical guidance packages and policy memos.
        • Assist in the coordination of streamlining activities, and represent the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.

      PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      • Experience working with State or Federal environmental regulations.
      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a major in environmental science from an accredited college or university.

      CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

      This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Environmental Permit Specialist I state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in Engineering Specialist I series.
