    • Report to assigned school 10 minutes prior to the start of the school day.
    • Assist with dismissal procedures.
    • Take student attendance.
    • Utilize provided lesson plans, deliver instruction, monitor, and assist student learning.
    • Implement provided classroom management plan, including using discipline techniques aligned with written campus discipline procedures and District policy.
    • Monitor students' behavior outside the classroom at designated times, between classes, and at assigned duty stations as directed.
    • Leave teacher a written classroom report including pertinent details regarding completion of lesson plans.
    • Monitor all students and follow any individualized student plans provided by the campus.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned, such as working in supplemental assignments under special revenue funds or state compensatory education funds.
    • Report to the office during the designated planning time to receive other duty assignments.
    • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
    • Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
    • Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

    • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
    • Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasionally up to 35 pounds; may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment.
    • Environment: Works in an office setting; noise levels in the classroom are usually moderate; frequent talking and listening; may work outside; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
    • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
    • Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
    • Education:
      • 60 college credit hours from accredited college or university required;
      • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university preferred.

      • Six months experience as a substitute teacher or full-time teacher required;
      • Working at inner-city schools with diverse student populations preferred.

    • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish oral and written) preferred in some settings.
    • Additional Requirements:
      • Ability to travel to all schools within the District and have immediate access to transportation. Notification of the day’s assignment will be sent the morning of the assignment;
      • Able to communicate daily with Central Calling and receive assignments by 6:30 a.m. daily;
      • Ability to work every day the students are in session;
      • Ability to work in all grade-levels and subjects (such as special education and physical education);
      • Ability to work in all applicable clerical positions;
      • If you are to be absent from work, you must report your absence to SmartFind Express and email TSSI@fwisd.org by 6:00 a.m.

      Position Purpose

      Deliver District curriculum to students in the absence of the teacher to maintain instructional continuity.

      This is a full-time position and eligible for all benefits of full-time employment, including earned leave.
