      Young Adult Services (YAS) serves students aged 18-26 across Ottawa County, with buildings in five locations around the Ottawa ISD service area. YAS serves students with moderate to severe disabilities who will not earn a high school diploma, even with additional years of school, a personal curriculum, or other accommodations or modifications. We work on all aspects of increasing student independence and transitioning into adult life, with an emphasis on community participation, work-readiness, and functional academic skills.

      This vacancy is for full-time a Teacher in a Tier 2 or Tier 3 classroom serving the northern portion of Ottawa County out of our Grand Haven location. Our classrooms are tiered for levels of support from 1-5, with 1 being the highest supervision and 5 being the least. The geographic service area and assignment location are subject to change based on student needs.

      The ideal candidate for a Tier 2 or 3 classroom will be a team-player, demonstrating a passion for individualized instruction, flexibility, and collaboration. Teachers in our middle tiers will have a wide mix of students and must be versatile in providing direct instruction on daily living skills and adult living. They will also need to support job-embedded work-based learning opportunities as needed.

      Candidates should have experience working with students or adults with behavioral difficulties. They should understand the FBA/PBSP process and have experience with positive behavioral interventions.

      Experience working with adults or high school aged students with moderate disabilities is required. A minimum of 3 years teaching experience is strongly preferred. Experience with work-based learning, community-based instruction, and community agencies is strongly preferred.

      Proper Special Education certification is required. Cognitive Impairment endorsement (SA) or Autism Spectrum Disorder endorsement (SV) are preferred.

      Calendar and schedule: Traditional school-year and traditional school-day for 2023-24.

      Valid unrestricted MI Driver’s License required. Safe driving record required.
