  Practicing the teaching profession according to the highest ethical standards and accepting the responsibility he/she has assumed by choosing a career in education

  QUALIFICATIONS:

  Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Advanced Degree preferred.

  Certification:

  • Qualified candidates must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Georgia teaching certificate in Health and Physical Education P-12.

  Experience :

  • Successful teaching experience

  MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
  2. Meets the expectations of the regular classroom teacher job description.
  3. Engages in ongoing communication and shares instructional goals, expectations, and student progress with students and families in a timely and constructive manner.
  4. Provides a safe, well-managed environment that is conducive to learning while modeling caring, fairness, respect and enthusiasm for learning. Promotes respect for and understanding for students’ diversity.
  5. Maintains the safety of all equipment as well as storage of that equipment.
  6. Promotes a climate of trust and teamwork in the classroom. Exhibits a commitment to professional ethics and the school’s mission. Exhibits a commitment to the health and physical development of students by helping to appropriately facilitate MCS athletic activities.
  7. Participates in professional growth opportunities to support student learning.
  8. Carries out duties in accordance with federal and state laws, Code of Ethics and established state and local school board policies.
  9. Maintains professional demeanor and behavior; Respects and maintains confidentiality.
  10. Collaborates with colleagues and community stakeholders to reach educational goals.
  11. High School PE/Health Teachers coaches at least two extracurricular athletic activities if required to do so.
  12. Willing to serve as an athletic coach at the Middle School or High School level if a vacant supplemented coaching position is identified by the Director of Athletics after July 1 of the current fiscal year.
  13. Performs all other duties as assigned by the principal or other appropriate administrator.

  • Maintains appearance appropriate to the occasion in contacts with students, parents, staff, and community

  Physical Demands:

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Dexterity to write on a board, operate a computer, and use other classroom technology.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • Clear speech and hearing abilities for effective communication.
  • Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.
