- Must have completed at least 60 semester hours of college credit, or earned an Associate’s degree, or successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment.
- Demonstrate basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
- Have previous experience with groups of children.
- Have good physical and emotional health.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Assists children under the supervision of the classroom teacher during the regular school year and/or the Summer Enrichment Program when deemed necessary.
- Collects, loads, and distributes resources and supplementary materials via the weekly shuttle to University Hospital.
- Gathers special materials and assists in extracurricular events/activities which support the educational, social, and emotional needs of students and allow children with disabilities to participate with their age-appropriate peers.
- Serves as clerical aide (Xeroxing, copying, making instructional and bulletin board materials, filing, etc.) when not directly involved as instructional assistant.
- Assists staff in taking inventory of consumable materials and art supplies.
- Participates in all meetings deemed necessary by the Education Director.
- Consults routinely with the Education Director.
- Participates in in-service programs for the faculty and hospital staff, when appropriate.
- Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Education Director.
