      About our team/Mō te tīma

      At the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine at the University of Otago, we work to understand why some people are healthy and some are not, how to prevent illness and injury, how people's health can be improved through working with communities, how political systems and health organisations affect health, and other issues relating to the health of populations.

      The role/Te mahi

      We have the opportunity to hire a fixed-term Teaching Fellow to support teaching in the Public Health papers: PUBH303 (Public and Global Health, current issues (Semester 2)) and PUBH713 (Society, Health and Health Promotion (Term 4)).

      This will involve:
      • the preparation of learning materials
      • student support
      • delivery of some class discussions and tutorials.

      Additionally, you will also assist with assessment, marking, reporting, and the management of electronic learning platforms related to Public Health teaching.

      Essential:
      • Appointments to Band 1 may be a relatively recent graduate with some teaching or tutoring experience.
      • Appointments to Band 2 will be experienced teachers with several years’ experience in their discipline, and normally hold or be working towards a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or teaching qualification.

      Preferred:
      • Hold, or be studying towards, a higher degree or tertiary teaching qualification.
      • Qualification(s) and/or relevant experience in public health and/or health promotion.

      This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), fixed-term position for five months (from 1 July 2024) based in Dunedin.

      The appointment range for this position is $70,692 to $82,008 per annum (pro-rata).
