      Job summary

      To be responsible for the provision and development of high standards of care to service users and carers.

      To ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient community mental health service in line with legislative requirements and the policies and procedures of the Dorset Healthcare NHS Trust and the Adults Social Services Commissioning Unit (Dorset Local Authority).

      To monitor and manage team and team members performance against agreed standards and key performance indicators.

      Be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery and / or procurement of designated services including the promotion of access to mental health services.

      To have responsibility for all day-to-day supervision/operational management of the multi-disciplinary team, and admin and clerical staff.

      To support the Service Manager in the development of fully integrated mental health services for Older Persons aged 65 and over or those aged under 65 with a Dementia diagnosis.

      To assist, as required, in the strategic planning and development of new initiatives and projects to meet changing service needs.

      To take forward Clinical Governance and business planning agenda items at team and individual staff level.

      Main duties of the job

      To be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Blandford Older Persons CMHT, ensuring adherence to human resource and health and safety policies and procedures.

      To be responsible for the day-to-day management of admin and clerical staff across the Blandford Older Person CMHT, always ensuring effective co-ordination and cross cover.

      To ensure staff adhere to local and external standards of practice and abide by legislative requirements.

      To manage staff workloads to ensure optimum staff performance and quality of care.

      To be responsible for staff recruitment, induction, and development, ensuring attendance of staff on mandatory and other relevant training.

      To promote collaborative working within the Older Person Mental Health Service and with other stakeholders.

      To participate in the management of joint projects including the Mental health integrated community care project.
