      Overview of Department

      Purpose of Role

      As Manager of our established in-house Digital Print Team here at Baillie Gifford, you will ensure that the Print Room is best equipped to provide an ‘on demand, high quality digital print service’ to the firm. You will be responsible for the day to day line management of a team of Printing professionals and ensure a best in class service is delivered to the firm.

      Responsibilities

      This is a fast paced role, where business demands can be high and where no two days look the same. The role is responsible for the following activities:

      • Managing a small internal team of dedicated print staff. Managing the staff performance, training, holiday allocation and general staff wellbeing.

      • This is a hands on role, utilising strong print and finishing skills to help the production staff during busier periods or covering staff absence.

      • Liaising with internal Creative Teams to ensure print artwork is delivered in a timely and accurate fashion for internal printing.

      • Liaising with internal stakeholders to fully understand their print requirements and keep them informed of any issues that might impact delivery of their requests.

      • Quality control and sanity checking the final digital print output, ensuring only the highest level of print output leaves the team.

      • Ensuring all audit standards (FSC Certified), health and safety and compliance procedures are followed and adhered to.

      • Managing a number of external supplier relationships and the procurement and correct servicing of all Print Room Equipment.

      • Recording print volumes and trends within the print room and the wider business.

      • Managing the internal fleet of office printers in all offices and ensure hardware performs optimally. This should involve hosting regular service reviews with print suppliers.

      • Managing paper supplies, print consumables, and liaising with relevant suppliers and print providers.

      • Staying up to date with print product developments and the latest advances in Digital Print offerings from leading Print Providers.

      • Obtaining feedback and improving productivity and efficiencies within the Team.

      Knowledge, skills and experience: -

      Qualifications: -

      • No specific qualifications are required, however practical experience gained within a commercial printing environment is essential.

      Experience and knowledge: -

      Essential: -

      • Experience of working in a financial print room, commercial printer, print shop or design agency with print experience

      • Skilled in printing, marketing pack production, large format printing, wire binding and lamination

      • Experience of managing 3rd party relationships

      • Print Finishing skills

      • MS Office proficient

      • Adobe Products (In Design & Acrobat DC)

      Abilities and Skills: -

      • Line management experience or team leading skills gained within a print environment

      • Strong customer centric approach

      • Solid relationship building skills

      • Impressive communication abilities, both verbal and written

      • Organisational skills and good time management
