- Minimum Education: High School Graduate or GED required.
- Minimum Experience: successful completion of technical college program or a vocational training Surgical Technician certification with certification required if hired after March 2013.

Description
OB technicians have two main duties: they assist the department in both clinical and clerical duties. The OB technician is responsible for stocking the delivery rooms with needed supplies and for making sure surgery immediately accessible. After the physician has completely performed delivery procedure, the OB technician is responsible for cleaning the procedure area. Once the room is clean, the OB technician must supply again the new materials so that the department can use the room again as soon as it is needed. The OB Technician makes sure that instruments and equipment for delivery are ready anytime. Like other healthcare assistants and nurses, OB technicians can also provide patient support. They explain procedures and answer patient’s questions. They also assist with patient needs. Additional duties of the OB technician may include administrative and clerical duties. They may schedule appointments, answer phones, gather patient’s information, file paperwork, maintain records, and run insurance information.
