Pipe Welding (3 credits)
Advanced GTAW (3 credits)
Direct Metals (1.5 credits)
Advanced GMAW (3 credits)
Advanced Shop Fabrication/Equipment (2 credits)
Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population in both lecture and laboratory settings;
Develop and revise instructional materials for both lecture and laboratory courses;
Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and college levels;
Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with instructors in the WELD Department, the Department’s administrators, academic advisors, and support staff, and all College personnel;
Participate actively in the college community through WELD Department and School of Trade Technologies meetings and College-wide committee work;
Utilize campus technology to stay current in the welding and metal fabrication profession and connect to faculty, staff, and students; and
Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships
Welding and Metal Fabrication Associate of Applied Science Degree (60 credits)
Welding and Metal Fabrication Certificate (30 credits)
Education Requirement: Diploma in welding.
Occupational Experience Requirement: Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in welding.
Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Master’s degree
Teaching experience in a community college or technical school setting
Occupational experience in welding and metal fabrication
Demonstrated computer skills with educational learning systems and Microsoft Office software
Experience developing and using student-centered, active, and experiential learning strategies
Experience incorporating technology into curriculum delivery
Experience assessing student academic achievement

Job Description
Minneapolis College is seeking a temporary, part-time instructor in our Welding and Metal Fabrication (WELD) Department within the School of Trade Technologies . This is an opportunity for a teaching position during Fall Semester of the 2025 - 2026 academic year that may be renewed for Spring Semester at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Trade Technologies.
Dates of employment:
Available courses in Fall 2025 Semester (7.5 credits total)
If renewed: Available courses in Spring 2026 Semester (5.0 credits total)

Our Welding and Metal Fabrication Program:
Minneapolis College’s Welding and Metal Fabrication program provides students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills they need for entry-level employment as welders, solderers, and metal fabricators.
Students can earn the following academic awards:
Salary Range:
$43,067 - $71,893 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023 - 2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State credential field of Welding Technology/Welder.
