      Job Description

      BAE Systems, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated and driven software engineering intern to join our summer internship program for 2025. As a Software Engineer Technical Intern, you will join a team of engineers supporting software development opportunities that provide value to our customers and solve real world problems. Your contributions will play a crucial role in ensuring our partner’s mission accomplishment and support the defense of our nation.

      The qualified candidate will design, develop, test and document Windows-based applications for various aircraft test and support equipment items. The qualified candidate will contribute to the development of instrument drivers, evaluation algorithms, Graphical User Interfaces, and self-test software. The qualified candidate will also interface with Systems and Hardware Engineering. A desire to work with hardware and knowledge of basic electrical hardware design is a plus. The qualified candidate will be involved in all phases of software development lifecycle including requirements definition, design, code, integration, and test.

      BAE Systems works with state-of-the-art technologies that will expand your software toolbox in a real-world Software Engineering environment. Your internship may include the opportunity to work with new client-based frameworks like REACT/AngularJS, new architectures like AWS, Azure, Rancher, Kubernetes, new server-side frameworks like GRADLE and SPRING, database implementations like SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NOSQL(MongoDB, Allegrograph, Mark Logic, Redis, DynamoDB), and various other technologies.


      In addition to your program work, during your time as an intern you will be a part of our summer internship program. The program is set up to provide an opportunity for you to network with other interns, build relationships, and have fun! The intern program is led by one of our engineers who will provide mentoring and coaching throughout the summer.

      Required Skills and Education

      • Transitioning into Junior or Senior year during the Summer of 2025 or pursing a graduate degree
      • Majoring in one of the following programs:
        • Computer Engineering
        • Electrical Engineering
        • Computer Science
        • Software Engineering
        • Other coding related degree
      • Knowledge of Data Structures and Object Oriented Programming
      • Driven to learn and a passion for providing excellent products
      • Proficient in one of the following languages:
        • Java
        • C++
        • C#
        • Python
        • JavaScript

      Preferred Skills and Education

      Computer Engineer Major, Electrical Engineer Major that prefers to do software, or Computer Science Major who has experience working with electronics (like robotics or Arduino development, etc.). The Intern needs to be familiar and comfortable working with hardware. The Intern will mainly work with control electronics.

      • Embedded Windows Operating System and Device Driver development
      • Signal measurement techniques and theory
      • Graphical User Interface design, including Windows Forms
