Job Description
- Req#: JR-2023-02930
- Participate in technical projects related to urethane, formulation development, analytical/physical testing, and root cause analysis while supporting application development, lead production support, and assist with customer complaint investigations.
- Gain an understanding of polyurethane technical service, production scale application technology and learn to model effective customer interaction in order to establish effective relationships.
- Provide technical communications, write reports and project summaries, contribute to or author publications or operational procedures.
- Collaborate with Market Managers and shadow key market specialists. Attend customer meetings in order to gain knowledge of marketing strategy & requirements.
- Participate in Diamond projects and a Discovery interview/listening event to gain an understanding of value analytics, the stage gate methodology, and new product blueprinting.
- Work with technical product experts and product management in each business unit to understand product chemistries & applications and to benchmark competitive products.
- Understand quality systems, regulatory affairs, product safety (to include exposure to services, monitoring, TSCA, MSDS, distribution safety) and meet with subject matter experts in each area in order to apply learning to technical project.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in a scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or related STEM degree
- Experience or education background in polyurethane chemistry or technology
- Experience with an enterprise-wide system, such as SAP
- Previous experience at Covestro
- Internship or co-op experience, preferably in an industrial/chemical setting
- Excellent communication, listening, project planning and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information accurately
- Established leadership skills through involvement in extracurricular activities
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer software, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to establish effective relationships quickly
- Proven ability to interact effectively with a variety of functions and with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures

The Covestro Technical Rotational Development Program puts you on track for an exciting career at one of the world’s largest & most innovative producers of polymers & high-performance plastics.
Participants in Covestro’s Technical Development Program work closely with scientists and engineers during an 18-month rotational program in which you will spend six (6) months in each of the following businesses: Performance Materials (PM), Tailored Urethanes (TUR), Coatings and Adhesives and Group Innovation/Digital R&D. During this time, you will learn the business’ products, including their chemistry, applications, end uses, customer base and future business opportunities. WHAT YOU OFFER
The Covestro Technical Rotation Program requires participants to be geographically flexible during the rotations and to be willing to relocate in order to complete assignments across the enterprise. In addition, upon successful completion of this program you may be required to relocate to one of the U.S. Covestro sites.
