      The Technical Specialist II plans, forecasts, justifies, implements and maintains all PLMI system infrastructure. You will maintain online service level agreements to ensure productivity. Your duties will include but are not limited to:

      • Setting up and supporting server hardware, operating systems and application software on multiple platforms (AIX, Linux, Windows, Virtual, Citrix).

      • Supporting VMWare, replication, Disaster Recovery.

      • Interfacing with external vendors.

      • Troubleshooting technical problems and providing escalated support for multiple IT teams.

      The future caregiver is someone who:

      • Has 2+ years’ experience supporting enterprise class hardware (Storage arrays (DELL Power Scale Preferred), VMware clusters, multi-server operating system knowledge, including Linux and Windows, Microsoft Active Directory).

      • Has experience with High Performance Computing is also beneficial.

      • Has strong Linux skills along with knowledge with various scripting languages, including Python, PowerShell, PERL etc.

      • Is detail oriented with experience in automating repetitive tasks (proffered).

      • Thrives working in complex fast paced environment where priorities can switch if required.

With heavy collaboration between co-workers, vendors, and other IT departments we are constantly learning and growing to enhance our current skills. We also offer on-line training to our technical caregivers who want to extend their knowledge and learn. These offerings are through the Pluralsight on-line portal.

      Responsibilities:

      • Develops creative solutions.
      • Presents options and makes recommendations for solutions.
      • Evaluates vendor quotes; performs cost analysis and cost justification.
      • Oversees resolution of system problems.
      • Ensures maximum availability of all systems to internal and external users.
      • Ensures complete documentation of all problem situations and resolutions by network/hardware support staff.
      • Reports status of problem situations to management.
      • Contributes to design, engineering and implementation of system infrastructure.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Education:

      • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
      • An additional five to seven years of progressively responsible related experience may substitute for degree requirement.

      Certifications:

      • For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification is required within 6 months of position start date.

      Complexity of Work:

      • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, familiarity with Agile methodology, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
      • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

      Work Experience:

      • Minimum of five years directly related experience.

      Physical Requirements:

      • Typical physical demands include manual dexterity sufficient to operate basic office equipment. Occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds.

      Personal Protective Equipment:

      • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
