Job Description

- Performs laboratory tests or other laboratory work using conventional and computerized machines and work aids.
- Performs laboratory work and tests according to prescribed standards.
- Determines chemical and physical characteristics or composition.
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Complete daily lab assignments and paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Provides leadership to less experienced Lab Techs.
- Use routine procedures to analyze product, process, customer service, environmental, or other samples in at least two areas of the QC/Environmental lab.
- Input data into computers as required and prepare reports for the lab, operations, external customer and regulatory agencies, etc. as directed.
- Standardize and maintain reagents and equipment used in normal laboratory operation.
- Analyze quality assurance samples and maintain control charts.
- Maintain working areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Work overtime, call-outs or work hours as assigned by supervisor.
- Train co-workers on routing analytical procedures.
- Perform routine and non-routine ICP/ICPMS analyses to support operations and other lab areas.
- Prepare calibration standards and stock solutions for analytical procedures.
- Monitor and interpret SQC charts and assist in troubleshooting problems.
- Maintain ISO Standards by modifying documents as needed.
- Assist chemists in conduction complex, analytical studies.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of college chemistry or related science is desired.
- One year of related experience
- Successful candidates must satisfy background screening, including motor vehicle record screening, drug testing & pre-employment physical requirements before starting work.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
