      JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

      The Technologies for Agriculture and Living Systems (TALiS) Initiative is seeking a motivated Coordinator to serve as a facilitator and enabler of faculty efforts to enhance the research portfolio of this active multidisciplinary initiative. The successful candidate will work closely with the College of Agricultural Sciences Office for Research and Graduate Education and the Director of TALiS to provide high-level research development support and partnership management. This position proactively interfaces and maintains collaborative relationships with individuals at multiple levels of the organization, including interactions within Penn State institutes, centers, and colleges as well as external stakeholders in industry, other academic institutions, and other related networks.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Providing project management support for multi-investigator projects in both the pre- and post-award stages.

      • Independent planning, initiating, organizing, and advancing research-related activities under the initiative.

      • Serving as a referral resource for investigators in pursuit of extramural funding; managing internal and external communications on behalf of the institute.

      • Planning and administering project budgets, serving as liaison with college financial offices.

      • Facilitating meetings and activities that support the advancement of the initiative. Must maintain confidential and sensitive information.

      Hybrid work is a possibility with the expectation that work is primarily in person. This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.

      Qualifications:

      • Requires a master’s degree or higher plus one or more years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

      • Experience with project management and/or scientific research (in some capacity).

      • Exemplary interpersonal skills and a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences.

      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external stakeholders to exchange information, resolve issues or concerns, and coordinate activities.

      • Excellent organization skills and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and simultaneous deadlines.

      • Familiarity with University budget policies and procedures is preferred.

      • Experience with university licensed software, Penn State research tools and databases (Pure, SciVal, SIMS), Microsoft Sharepoint, and Plone is preferred.

      The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

      $61,800.00 - $89,600.00
