      Digital Experience (DX) enhances customer experience citywide by aligning digital technologies with traditional marketing and communications efforts. DX manages and promotes the city's priority messaging, brand identity, website, digital marketing platforms, Denver 8 TV, and the city's municipal and community television stations. DX provides marketing and video production resources to city agencies and departments and administration of the city's cable franchise and public education access agreements.

      What We Offer

      The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $82,540.00 - $136,191.00/year, based on education and experience. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which includes but is not limited to:

      Location

      The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.

      What You’ll Do

      The Technology Communications Specialist will lead public information and media relations strategy and execution for Denver’s Technology Services (TS) department, the city’s centralized IT service provider. Success in this role requires an independent but collaborative communications professional with experience in highly regulated or sensitive subject matter, as well as an eye for innovative and inclusive government messaging campaigns.

      Responsibilities

      • Oversee complex technology communications and crisis management during emergency situations by managing and responding to media requests, serving as a spokesperson, and providing insights into crisis communications efforts to the TS executive leadership team.
      • Develop, enhance, or revise cyber security and technology media strategy and communications materials and collateral.
      • Develop, enhance, or edit cyber security and technology business communications.
      • Plan and execute communications that highlight TS strategic goals of providing reliable, responsive, responsible, and resident-centric technologies.
      • In coordination with the TS Data Tools and Governance division, oversee public information and CORA requests originating from media, assuring legal compliance in areas affecting media access to public information.
      • Establish and maintain good working relationships with media representatives, technology industry organizations, and communications stakeholders in city departments and governments across Colorado.
      • Develop, enhance, or revise cyber security communications strategies in partnership with Denver’s Office of Emergency Management and serve in the city's Joint Information Center during emergency activations.
      • Brief, prepare, and train executives and other personnel in media response best practices.

      • Ability to work equally competently independently and within technical teams

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Experience in technology communications or the technology industry
      • Experience in government or public sector communications

      Required Minimum Qualifications

      • Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
      • Experience Requirement: Four (4) years of full performance, professional level experience performing marketing and/or public relations functions including research and analysis, developing public announcements and publications, and developing marketing and/or public relations strategies.
      • Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.
      • Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
