      DEFINITION
      Being itinerant and under the general supervision of the Manager of Technology Services, the Technology Support Liaison is dispatched from the District Office for the implementation, maintenance, and support of hardware and software. Provides technical support including problem resolution services for the operation of personal computers, peripheral equipment, and networks located in classrooms, computer labs, libraries, and administrative offices. Provides instruction and support for hardware operation and software application to staff, students and parents.

      SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
      Receives general supervision from the Manager of Technology Services.
      DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
      Technology Support Liaison provides routine technology support to computer users at site locations. Technology Support Liaison is distinguished from Technology Technician as the duties are to disseminate routine technical assistance to classrooms, computer labs or offices for hardware implementation and software applications, whereas the Technology Technician classification is primarily responsible for design, installation, maintenance, trouble-shooting, and administration of District-wide core infrastructure, hardware, and applications.
      Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
      1. Assigned to work orders for technical assistance from school sites or departments on networks, personal computers, laptops, printers, and other peripheral equipment including but not limited to electronic whiteboards, projectors, and other educational technology. Provide user desktop support for software and hardware.
      2. Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves routine hardware problems; refers more complex requests/problems to Technology Technicians for resolution.
      3. Install /deploy and configure standard software and hardware at school sites and departments in accordance with established criteria; refers more complex installations to Technology Technicians for resolutions.
      4. Documents user request forms and actions taken in work order logs. Produces appropriate reports.
      5. Assists school site, department staff, and students in the operation and uses of computers and related equipment and software applications; maintains user operations and procedural manuals.
      6. Provides end user training in hardware operations and software applications.
      7. Ensures integrity of proprietary data and protects data systems.
      8. Maintains inventory of personal computers, laptops, printers, hardware, devices, and other technology systems. Documents software installed on each technology asset.
      9. Diagnoses routine hardware malfunctions; replaces peripheral components and performs other minor maintenance and repair; installs and configures replacement equipment; refers major repair of hardware to Technology Technicians while acting as a liaison between the District Office and sites.
      10. Performs server backup processes in accordance with established procedures for systems serving the school sites and departments.
      11. Administrates user accounts and reset passwords. Assists users in requesting creation of custom account access privileges for various computer systems. Provides help desk services.
      12. Assists in ordering parts and supplies necessary to repair and maintain technology equipment. Advises on technology equipment purchase requests from sites and departments to ensure compatibility.
      13. Attends training seminars, meetings, and reviews technical resources to keep abreast of cutting-edge technology.
      14. Prepares various reports, as required or requested.
      15. Participates on various technology committees. Serves as technical liaison between sites and District Office. Provides information for budgetary purpose.
      16. Other duties as assigned and appropriate.

      Education and Experience:
      • High school diploma or GED AND
      • A+ Certification or equivalent (must be attached) or ability to obtain A+ Certification or equivalent, within one year of employment; OR Associate's Degree or higher in related Computer Science field (Official Transcripts Need to be attached); OR related work experience as approved by district subject matter expert.
      • Any and all supporting documents MUST be attached to the application in order to be considered.
      License/Certification:
      • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
      • Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license prior to the completion of the probationary period.
      • Ability to be covered under the District property/liability insurance.

      Examination
      The examination components consist of a qualifying skills performance exams, written multiple-choice and oral exam. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be required to take the exam and are notified via email communication of the scheduled date, time, and location. A valid picture identification is required prior to admittance.

      After the exam procedure concludes for this recruitment, an eligibility list will be established to fill future vacancies. When eligibility lists include open and promotional lists of qualified persons through competitive examination, the promotional list will be used first, unless otherwise stated on this bulletin.

      TENTATIVE EXAM DATE: Week of August 26, 2024. Subject to change as necessary.

      Work Schedule
      This position typically works full-time eight (8) hours per day, 40-hour work week, and observes an 11-month work calendar.

      Salary and Benefits
      The salary rate for a new employee is at the first step of the appropriate five-step salary schedule for this position. The probationary period is 130 work days (not counting sick, industrial accident). Upon becoming permanent, a one-step salary advance shall be granted with future annual advances up to the fifth step of the salary schedule.

      Holidays and Leaves
      Seventeen (17) paid holidays that fall within the work year, pursuant to the District's Collective Bargaining Agreement with California Schools Employees Association Chapter 296 (CSEA).

      Sick leave shall be granted in the proportion of daily hours worked. Vacation is earned at the prescribed rate as part of compensation, and does not become vested until after completion of the initial probationary period.

      Work Environment
      Work is performed primarily indoors in classrooms and offices that are climate-controlled, utilizing standard modern office and computer equipment, and in environments that are subject to constant ambient noise and frequent interruptions. Incumbents walk outdoors to and from classrooms or a vehicle for required assignments; may encounter surfaces such as asphalt, concrete, slopes, curbs, uneven pavement and grass. Some exposure confined spaces (network closets), bloodborne pathogens at school sites; ambient excessive noise, dust/allergens, public contact.

      Physical Demands
      Occasional to continuous sitting; some lifting/carrying of computers and hardware, pushing and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, squatting, and crawling; significant fine finger dexterity; constant exposure to computer screens; normal vision and hearing with or without correction; frequent to continuous reaching at or below shoulder level; occasional to frequent neck flexion (downward) and twisting of neck side-to-side; occasional to frequent keyboarding, motion/bending of wrist side-to-side and up & down.
