- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or vocational/technical degree in Instructional Technology, IT Support, Computer Science, Information Science, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in technical support, AV setup, or educational technology assistance in an academic
setting. - Experience working in an educational setting.
- Entry-level AV or IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Google IT Support).
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software, streaming applications, and Internet-based tools, and be customer service-oriented.
- Knowledge of multimedia production tools and methodology is essential, along with a strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new software and hardware.
- The ideal candidate will be self-directed yet a flexible team player, capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-deadline environment.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to set and meet internal goals, are required.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are also essential.
- Additionally, the candidate should have a strong understanding of AV equipment setup and troubleshooting, as well as basic knowledge of educational technology
- tools and software.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Technology Support Specialist provides hands-on technical support for classroom AV equipment, assists with basic software
troubleshooting, and helps faculty integrate instructional technology into their teaching while ensuring that it remains current
and innovative.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
1. Designs, develops and presents technical specifications, user guides, and training materials on using technology-based
instructional strategies in the classroom.
2. Collaborates with instructional technology specialist(s), faculty, and instructional designers to gather requirements and ensure
software aligns with educational needs and objectives.
3. Sets up and maintains AV equipment for campus events, workshops, and classroom instruction.
4. Assists in planning and implementing technology-based solutions that align with institutional goals for teaching and learning.
5. Provides basic troubleshooting for hardware and software issues.
6. Assists in researching, identifying, evaluating, and recommending instructional equipment and software based on instructional
needs and emerging trends.
7. Supports faculty in integrating innovative instructional technology into the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning.
8. Assists staff and vendors to ensure the Center has the support, equipment, and materials needed to implement technology-based
instruction.
9. Assists with the development of departmental guidelines and procedures.
10. Provides technical support for instructional equipment.
11. Collaborates with team members to promote services and projects.
12. Creates audio/video content and communication media for varied departmental projects.
13. Maintains the upkeep of all classroom instructional technology and inventory.
14. Serves on College committees as assigned.
15. Performs other duties assigned by the Director to fulfill department goals.NOTICE: Required Documents

Supervision Received
The Technology Support Specialist reports directly to the Director of the Instructional Technology Center.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
