      Primary Function: The Technology Support Specialist (TSS) is essential in maintaining robust technology solutions which enhance both learning and operational efficiency across the school district, ensuring seamless support for students, educators, and staff. This role demands technical acuity, a customer service mindset, professionalism, and effective communication skills to successfully assist and collaborate with educators, staff, and students. The TSS is responsible for researching, maintaining, supporting, and repairing district technologies while proactively identifying opportunities to enhance the educational and work experience through emerging technology. This position is key to fostering a technologically advanced and efficient learning, and working environments.

      This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: The Technology Support Specialist performs a full range of comprehensive technical support and repair responsibilities and project management implementation of new installations and major system enhancements. The Technology Support Specialist must demonstrate adaptability in the rapidly evolving landscape of technology in a school district environment. A strong customer service approach and problem-solving skills are essential for success. Preferred candidates will have experience in technology device support and repair within a networked environment, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to provide exceptional user assistance.

      REQUIREMENTS:

      1. Educational Level:

      High school diploma or equivalent

      2. Certification/Licenses Required:

      Manufacturer-Specific Device Certification Training; Valid Driver’s License

      Preferred: Certifications in IT-related areas, such as CompTIA A+, Google IT Support, or Microsoft Certified Technician, are considered a plus.

      3. Experience/Equivalency:

      Candidates with previous experience in technology support and repair or a related field are preferred.

      Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with knowledge, skills, and ability

      required to perform the work.

      5. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

      KNOWLEDGE: The candidate should have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including fractions, percentages, and ratios. They must be able to research, read and comprehend various manuals and other Internet based technical knowledge sources, effectively document information in prescribed formats, and present technical details clearly to others. A strong understanding of multi-step written and oral instructions is essential for carrying out job responsibilities accurately. Additionally, the role requires specific knowledge-based competencies necessary to perform the essential functions outlined in this document. Familiarity with troubleshooting network connectivity issues is a plus.

      SKILLS: The ideal candidate possesses technical acuity, a strong customer service and problem-solving mindset, demonstrating the ability to work efficiently and professionally within a school district. They should have experience in deploying, supporting, and repairing district technology, including interactive flat panels, audio-visual systems, and computing devices. Proficiency across multiple operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, iOS, and ChromeOS, is essential. Additionally, strong organizational skills are required to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure the seamless operation of educational technology.

      ABILITIES: The ideal candidate should be able to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues efficiently while effectively managing their time to balance multiple tasks. They must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide variety of stakeholders, coordinate meetings and schedule support sessions as needed. They must be able to both work within a team environment and as an individual contributor effectively, based on a variety of scenarios. A proactive mindset and willingness to research, learn, and implement new technologies is essential to supporting the district’s educational goals and ensuring continuous improvement in technology integration.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

      1.

      Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.

      2.

      Conduct routine hardware inspections and preventative maintenance on classroom technology, documenting common support requests, resolutions, and recurring issues to improve service response times. Proactively provide training tools to administration and staff on best practices for the purpose of reducing recurring technical issues and ensuring seamless classroom operations.

      3.

      Execute software and firmware updates, including essential configuration adjustments, to enhance device functionality, strengthen security, and improve overall performance for the purpose of maintaining system efficiency, compatibility with evolving technologies, and seamless user experience.

      4.

      Diagnose, deploy, reconfigure, repair, replace, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues with interactive and non-interactive displays, digital signage, classroom audio amplification systems, voice uplift solutions and instructional and end user devices. Support technology solutions in various environments such as cafetoriums, auditoriums, and other large meeting spaces. Create and conduct routine hardware inspections and preventative maintenance including issues related to sound clarity, video quality, connectivity, and device compatibility for the purpose of enhancing system reliability, minimizing disruptions, and ensuring an efficient learning and working environment for staff, educators and students.

      5.

      Coordinate the repair and replacement of technology by working directly with vendors and hardware manufacturers for the purpose of ensuring timely resolutions and minimizing disruptions to classroom and administrative functions.

      6.

      Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication skills when engaging with school staff, administrators, and students by providing clear, courteous, and responsive support for the purpose of fostering positive interactions and ensuring that all stakeholders feel heard, informed, and supported in their technology needs.

      7.

      Collaborate with vendors to ensure the timely and effective support of digital signage solutions across the district, minimizing downtime and disruptions for the purpose of maintaining continuous and effective communication in affected locations.

      8.

      Completion of manufacturer-specific device certification training within the first six months of employment for the purpose of ensuring proficiency in troubleshooting, maintenance, and support of technology devices.

      9.

      Conduct research on emerging technology solutions that may offer greater efficiency and align with district objectives, ensuring the optimal use of allocated funds. Additionally, monitor and maintain a reasonable Service Level Agreement (SLA) within the Muscogee County School District for the purpose of ensuring consistent and reliable technology service standards that support educational operations.

      10.

      Facilitate the integration of webcams, document cameras, and conference systems to enhance hybrid learning and enable seamless collaboration for video or conference-call based meetings. Ensure proper setup, configuration, and functionality for the purpose of supporting effective remote and in-person instruction, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

      11.

      Assists with asset management and monitoring of technology devices and equipment, including tracking inventory, maintaining accurate records, for the purpose of ensuring proper deployment, and assessing lifecycle needs to support efficient operations and long-term planning.

      12.

      Offer insights and recommendations on district-wide best practices for maintaining and enhancing instructional technology for the purpose of improving technology efficiency, system reliability, and the overall teaching and learning experience.

      13.

      Serve as the first line of response for troubleshooting network-related issues, including Wi-Fi connectivity, access point functionality, ethernet drop connections, and device authentication. Ensure all classroom devices remain securely connected to district-approved networks for the purpose of maintaining secure, reliable, and accessible digital learning environments.

      14.

      Research, create and deliver training to various Muscogee County School District stakeholders on various technical solutions within the Muscogee County School District by equipping them with the knowledge and support needed to effectively utilize provided software and hardware. Facilitate training and guidance for the purpose of maximizing the potential of available technology, enhancing productivity, and fostering innovation in education.

      15.

      Stay up to date on emerging educational technology trends to support the development of modern learning environments. Continuously explore opportunities to maximize existing hardware and software infrastructure for the purpose of enhancing instructional effectiveness, streamlining operations, and improving technology integration within the district.

      16.

      Research and recommend innovative technology solutions that enhance classroom experiences and support diverse instructional needs, including 3D printers, large-format printers, specialized technology for JROTC, and high- performance desktops for the purpose of expanding learning opportunities and meeting the specialized needs of various educational programs.

      17.

      Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
