- Uphold the mission of the YMCA and demonstrate behaviors that reflect a determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming nature.
- Serve as a role model and advocate of the YMCA Mission, Promise, Values and Voice.
- Provide community outreach to involve a diverse group of young people, parents, teachers, and community leaders in the programs.
- Recruit local middle and high schools to participate in Indiana YMCA Youth and Government programs. Recruitment includes a teacher or administrator to serve as the delegation advisor.
- Partners with community organizations to recruit youth to participate in workforce development programming. Deliver the formal workforce development curriculum to youth participants. Work closely with neighboring YMCAs, and be an active member of Teen Cabinet.
- Transition in the summer to Camp Honor Bright Director with focus on growing and developing LIT program and oversee Camp Horizon (Teen Camp at Clark).
- Create a sage and inviting space in the branch for teens and their programming.
- Achieve and maintain any training or certifications
- Work with the Executive Director, Child Care Director and Grants Team for all grant updates and reporting.
- Completes required abuse risk management training. Adheres to policies and procedures related to appropriate boundaries with children. Monitors building, staff and members and reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to supervisor. Follows mandated abuse reporting requirement to authorities.
- Proven track record working with a diverse group of youth.
- Work experience in formal and informal learning environments.
- Demonstrated ability to reach out to youth, parents, educators, and community leaders.
- Interpersonal skills, including an ability to get along with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities, and a talent for making people feel welcomed and included.
- A passion for learning and helping others learn.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Ability to coordinate events, volunteers, staff, grant funders, etc.
- Ability to speak to groups, teenagers, funders, etc. Possess the desire to connect donors to the Mission of the Y.
- Possess superior organizational skills for project management, event planning, etc.
