      POSITION DUTIES

      This position will provide the best possible patient care and education to all students and their families by attending to the duties of the receptionist and switchboard area. Many interactions begin and end at the facilities reception desk. It is imperative that outstanding customer service is practiced. Being professional, efficient, organized, friendly, and communicative are all key to success. Relaying accurate, sensitive, and timely information to the appropriate individual or department is vital. Ensuring that the conference rooms are reserved accurately, and that all log books are kept up with. Being vigilant for safety and knowing what to do in emergencies and drills is important. Asking questions when in need of assistance to your supervisor will help keep the receptionist desk area operating at a high standard. Per the Amended Directive and Order Regarding Vaccination (MDH # 2023.04.18.03) issued by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health, effective April 18, 2023, staff in all hospitals and residential facilities operated by the Maryland Department of Health or any local health department are required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Staff includes, but is not limited to, regular and contractual employees, contractual staff, volunteers, and other state employees performing any duties at the facility. An individual may request an accommodation by providing appropriate and sufficient documentation for bona fide medical or religious reasons.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Education: Completion of the Eighth grade. Experience: None. Note: Candidates may substitute additional experience performing telephone operator dutieson a year-for-year basis for the required education.

      DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

      The desired candidate should possess the following: Experience working with a multi-line telephone system Experience working in an environment with adolescents with emotional disabilities and court involved youth

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

      Employees in this classification may be subject to call 24 hours a day and be required to provide the employing agency with a telephonenumber where they can be reached.
