      Job Description

      The Tele Sitter Observer provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients. First line of action is to verbally redirect the patient from engaging in at risk behaviors; summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance; knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.

      ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

      Demonstrates understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys Tele sitter Software.

      Maintains visual observation at all times. Verbally redirects patient over a digital 2-way device, immediately summons the nursing staff if patient requires assistance

      Participates in hand-off information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving and at completion of shift.

      Provides patients with explanation as necessary, but does not counsel or provide options.

      Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.

      Demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes; follows safety rules.

      Completes written documentation of patient activity every hour. Maintains records of service calls to Avasys when monitors are not functioning.

      EDUCATION:

      High School Diploma required

      EXPERIENCE:

      Previous direct patient care experience

      LCENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:

      Basic Life Support certification or 6 months from hire date.

      Able to follow detailed written and oral instructions, efficiency in multitasking, basic telephone etiquette, the ability to communicate with patients using microphone and headset.

      Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
