- Ability to work flexible schedules
- Monitors and/or mentors an identified group of 20-25 students. Coordinates one-on-one and small group sessions.
- Serves as a liaison to ensure opportunities and access are afforded to the identified group of 20 - 25 students overall.
- Maintains and submits timely reports in the communication log detailing student participation and outcomes. Ensures accurate and confidential student records.
- Keeps an Outlook calendar of formal and informal student check-ins. Create a consistent check in schedule with students to include, but not limited to, the established student goals.
- Acts as a liaison between the student, families, and staff to participate in school events/programs.
- Participates in school events to support the identified group of 20-25 students.
- Monitors progress of students, their activities and keeps detailed records.
- Establishes effective and cooperative working relationships with professional and support staff.
- Attend meetings with school based staff, administrators, and parents, when necessary.
- Attend central office Opportunity and Access Liaison staff meetings, when necessary.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.
- Some College Level Courses in human development, child psychology, counseling, special education or related field of education preferred.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.
- Group facilitation and/or Supervision experience preferred.
- Possesses strong clerical and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning.
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill, and experience to support their child’s education experience.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g. Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
- Bilingual native or near native preferred.
- Standing: under 1/3 percent of the time
- Walking: under 1/3 percent of the time
- Sitting: between 1/3 and 2/3 percent of the time
- Keyboarding: between 1/3 and 2/3 percent of the time
- Talking: between 1/3 and 2/3 percent of the time

JOB SUMMARY
Serves as a school based liaison/mentor for identified students to optimize academic achievement. In this role, Opportunity and Access Liaisons assist students by connecting them to resources that can support them in navigating the balance of school and personal life. They will guide students through the challenges of maintaining a successful academic career, as well as finding a balance between home and community. Serves as the point of contact for the school administration, classroom teachers, parents, pupil personnel workers, and professional school counselors.
