      THIS IS This is maintenance work facilitating events involving the use and care of City buildings and equipment. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under close supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classes by its lack of supervisory responsibility and from lower classes by its emphasis on setting up and monitoring city events. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES Valid Florida Drivers License required. NOTES Work requires physical strength and agility. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work requires wearing uniform supplied and in compliance with dress code.

      Temporary Part Time Recreation Building Attendant

      The City of Gainesville's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs now has an opening for Temporary Part Time Recreation Building Attendant who will perform light maintenance work and facilitate events involving the use and care of City buildings and equipment.

      Typical job duties include but are not limited to public engagement, customer services as well as performing general janitorial work and event assistant work. Duties include set-up and clean-up after events, moving and lifting heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.

      To be considered for this position you must have: ;

      • A high school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma
      • One (1) year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact or any equivalent combination of education and experience;
      • Valid Florida Driver's License


      Preferred Qualification

      • The ideal candidate will have good customer service skills, the ability to make good decisions, and possess other skills related to janitorial type duties and facility monitorsing.

      EXAMPLES OF WORK

      ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      Performs general janitorial and attendant work at assigned building facilities and grounds, including set-up and clean-up after events and activities.

      Moves and lifts heavy equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects to prepare for and clean up after events and programs.

      Locks and unlocks facilities and notifies appropriate authorities in event of emergency.

      Monitors events and programs and assists as needed.

      Enforces strict applicable rules and regulations by informing general public participants.

      Attends work on continuous and regular basis.

      NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

      May perform leadworker or supervisory duties with contract and temporary employees.

      Performs other related duties as assigned.

      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

      Completion of high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and one year experience in janitorial work that includes public contact, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

      Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
