      General Position Summary:
      This position is responsible for energetically bringing passion and energy into the MAC Tennis Office to assist with the functioning of the office including the stringing of racquets. The position will also attend to the needs and requests of members during working hours.

      Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:

      • Responsible for cleanliness and maintaining the Tennis Office.
      • Assist the Tennis Manager and Tennis Coaches with, but not limited to, team result reports, data entry, communications forms and maintenance requests.
      • Answer phones.
      • Assist members with a professional presentation and demeanor.
      • Stringing and regripping racquets.
      • Testing and sorting tennis balls.
      • Monitoring court reservations, usage and no shows.
      • Understand the basic functioning of tennis ball machines to assist members when needed.
      • Assist with the sale of tennis balls and tennis related items.
      • Ensure USTA League matches start on time and adhere to the posted warm up times.


      Secondary Functions:

      • Periodically review MAC Tennis webpage.
      • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
      • Participates in all club-related training classes.


      Job Scope:

      The Tennis Office Attendant assists in the functioning of the MAC Tennis Department by taking care of the Tennis Office and and other tennis areas in the evening and weekend hours. Daily tasks include assisting members in person and on the phone, working in conjunction with MAC Tennis Coaches to ensure classes and lessons are filled and data is being recorded and other tasks as assigned by the the Tennis Manager. Additionally racquet stringing will be required, determined by demand.


      The Tennis Office Attendant position is fairly routine and follows established practices and procedures. Duties are performed with specific directions given and work is checked or verified visually on a frequent basis. Decisions are made within specific operational instructions and departmental guidelines. Errors in judgment could affect the smooth and efficient operation of the office.

      Interpersonal Contacts:

      • Consistent contact with members and other employees in the MAC club.
      • Initiate contact with members regarding classes, lessons and tennis events.
      • Contact with non-members for league matches, assisting with issues arising due to unfamiliarity of the club.


      Specific Job Skills:

      • Basic knowledge of tennis including, basic stroke knowledge, scoring and current ATP/WTA tour tournaments and players with the Grands Slams being a minimum knowledge base.
      • Awareness of USTA League and City League and the ratings systems in each.
      • Stringing and regripping of tennis racquets.
      • Ability to navigate basic office computer skills; Microsoft Office and MAC software.
      • Skilled communication, both verbal and listening to ensure the smooth function of the Tennis Department.
      • The ability to physical ability to bend, twist, lift up to 20 pounds regularly, walk & climb stairs required.
      • Excellent customer service skills.
      • Physical ability to operate telephone, computer hardware/software including keyboard, and 10-key and to sit for extended periods of time.
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members and staff.
      • Ability to perform the essential job functions.


      Education and/or Experience:

      • High school diploma required (or within one year of acquiring). College progress desired.
      • Experience playing tennis tournaments. High school or college team playing experience preferred.
      • Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests and staff.


      Job Conditions:

      • Normal office and tennis court environment.
      • Must be available to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends.
