- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of ELL students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support to ensure academic growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate language development strategies across the curriculum.
- Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in TESOL.
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification with TESOL endorsement.
- Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Proven experience working with middle school students, particularly ELLs.
- Strong understanding of language acquisition theories and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.
- Differentiated Instruction: Tailor lessons to meet the varying proficiency levels and learning styles of students.
- Cultural Responsiveness: Incorporate students' cultural backgrounds into the curriculum to make learning more relevant and engaging.
- Interactive Activities: Use group work, discussions, and hands-on activities to promote active learning and language use.
- Scaffolding: Provide structured support to help students gradually build their language skills and confidence.
- Formative Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through informal methods such as observations, quizzes, and student reflections.
- Technology Integration: Utilize digital tools and resources to enhance language learning and provide additional practice opportunities.
- Parental Involvement: Engage with parents and guardians to support student learning at home and build a strong school-community connection.
- Professional Development: Stay informed about the latest research and trends in TESOL by attending workshops, conferences, and webinars.
