      Job Summary
      Under moderate direction, defines, documents, analyzes, performs, and interprets developmental tests for new and/or modified, remanufactured products or product components for Alternator and Starter. Understands development process and applies basic principles, theories, and concepts to job assignments. Ensures test execution according to requirements and plan. Addresses testing problems and performs initial failure analysis with other engineering and technical personnel. Provides technical support and advice to other engineering groups.

      Responsibilities

      • Develops complex test plans and outlines testing conditions for the test technician to perform the testing. Completes test requests and interfaces with the testing lab to coordinate testing and equipment availability. Interacts with external test facilities to complete validation testing if required. Performs product tests as appropriate.
      • Requires accurate reporting of observed phenomenon without expressing opinions or interpretations or making evaluations of the test results. Performs initial root cause and failure analysis and works with the design engineering group to develop and maintain test and product improvements.
      • Continually evaluates testing equipment and instrumentation and recommends new tools to facilitate product testing. Reviews and analyzes testing results and makes recommendations for improvement.
      • Trains engineers from other groups in the use of testing equipment. Provides technical support and advice to other engineering groups.
      • Develops test protocols, processes and standardized report forms.
      • Composes ELO (Eng Lab Order) final test reports. Delivers routine or simple presentations.
      • May participate in benchmarking activities.
      • Analyzes current processes, procedures and systems and makes recommendations for improvement for own job.
      • Requires following Compliance & Standards (ISO, Calibration, Safety, AM-DDS, etc.)
      • Perform other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
      • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
      • Good written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
      • Good customer service skills with an ability to approach every business relationship as a partnership.
      • Good problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to address customer issues and partner on resolutions.
      • Good analytical skills.
      • Good negotiation skills and an ability to resolve situations while making a point firmly and seeking a positive outcome for both sides.
      • Demonstrated competency in working with computer software and mainframe applications to manipulate, analyze and reconcile data.
      • Intermediate knowledge of CAD (i.e. NX, CATIA) and other engineering software and databases.
      • Ability to create, read and modify testing plans.
      • Working knowledge of auto parts test equipment controls and instrumentation.
      • Ability to effectively apply the PDCA process to identify potential process improvements.
      • Good project management skills and familiarity working with project management tools and software.
      • Good CAN/LIN communication protocols understanding, and familiar with bus monitoring, simulation & diagnostics.
      • Kaizen mindset.

      Salary $88,000-$108,000.
