      About the Job
      The Cybersecurity Intern will embark on a critical project aimed at identifying AI-specific cyberattacks that could impact the Texas Permanent School Fund (TXPSF). This role involves conducting interviews with key staff, researching threats, analyzing attack vectors, and proposing mitigation strategies to safeguard our organization. The intern will gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity with a focus on AI threats, making a tangible impact on our organization's security posture. Lastly, the intern will perform cybersecurity activities including vulnerability management, cybersecurity risk assessment, and incident response. This internship provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the security of a vital organization while gaining practical experience in the field of cybersecurity.


      About the Corporation
      The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) was created by Texas’ first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state’s public schools and was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to comprise over $52 billion in assets and will distribute nearly $2.2 billion annually to Texas K-12 schools.


      Key Responsibilities Include the Following
      • Conduct in-depth interviews with staff across various departments to map out and understand critical organizational processes and the cybersecurity implications associated.


      • Perform extensive research into emerging AI-driven cyber threats, identifying potential vulnerabilities within the organization's key operational areas.


      • Develop and propose comprehensive cybersecurity mitigation strategies to address identified AI threats, including the recommendation of cutting-edge security technologies and process enhancements.


      • Assist with conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and participate in compliance reviews.


      • Conduct threat intelligence and threat hunting, using security tools and resources for investigating security incidents.

      Qualifications
      • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution while majoring s in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.


      • Must be, an Undergraduate rising Junior or Senior (May 2024 graduates are welcome), or a Graduate Student.


      • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.


      • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity and AI technologies.


      Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


      • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.


      • Excellent analytical and technical skills.


      • Excellent and creative problem-solving skills.


      • Understanding of basic concepts in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
