The Economist Intern will have hands-on experience in analyzing economic data, conducting research, and developing economic models. Responsibilities may include collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports and presentations, and assisting with economic forecasting and analysis. The intern will work closely with management to support various projects and initiatives, gaining exposure to a wide range of economic issues and trends. This internship offers valuable insight into the field of economics and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects within a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
About the Corporation
The Texas Permanent School Fund (PSF) was created by Texas’ first Constitution in 1845 as a perpetual fund to support the state’s public schools and was seeded with $2 million in 1854. Since that time, the PSF has grown to comprise over $52 billion in assets and will distribute nearly $2.2 billion annually to Texas K-12 schools.
Key Responsibilities Include the Following
• Monitor and analyze economic indicators, such as inflation rates, GDP growth, and unemployment rates, to assess the overall health of the economy.
• Learn how to use research and analysis to quantify the impact of economic, legal and industry factors that affect portfolio performance and asset values.
• Assist in the development and implementation of economic models and forecasting techniques to assess economic conditions and predict future trends.

• Assist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and publications on economic forecasts and market analysis.Qualifications
• Must be enrolled in accredited institution.
• Must be, an Undergraduate rising Senior (May 2024 graduates are welcome), or a Graduate Student.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher while majoring in Economics, Financial Economics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or any other major focused on quantitative research.
• Experience with analytical packages and/or programming languages (SAS, STATA, EViews, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB, VBA, etc.)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software to analyze and manipulate data.
• Proficiency in economic modeling and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of analytical packages and/or programming languages (SAS, STATA, EViews, SPSS, R, Python, MATLAB, VBA, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of economic theories, methodologies, and models.
• Understanding of global economic trends and their impact on markets.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex economic data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
