      Req#: 23704

      Department Overview:

The great swing state of Wisconsin often feels like the center of the political and public policy universe, especially during an election year. Major outcomes from abortion rights to voting access often ride on just how many Wisconsinites decide to stay home or show up at the polls. A lot of pressure, right?

Luckily, Wisconsin has a super power: it’s young voters. Over 300,000 college students call Wisconsin home – when we organize on campuses, students vote.

Building on work started during the April 2023 Supreme Court Election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative organization that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the 2024 elections.

      Position Summary/Job Duties:

Fellows will work with Campus Organizers to build a movement on campus to mobilize students for Wisconsin’s 2024 elections. This is an excellent opportunity to get an inside look at how political campaigns work, while contributing to critical elections in 2024.

The fall semester cohort will start in early August and work through November. We also have short term paid opportunities (2-3 weeks) for Welcome Week and Get Out The Vote. Fellows will spend 15 hours a week mobilizing on their campus by doing everything from leading events and volunteer recruitment to talking to students about the importance of the upcoming elections for issues like reproductive rights, climate change, democracy, and economic justice. Tactics include high traffic canvassing, tabling, door-to-door canvassing, class/student organization visits, and text/phone/DM banks. This is a paid fellowship, full semester fellows will be paid a $1000/month stipend and short term fellows will receive a one-time $500 stipend.

      Qualifications:

As a successful candidate for this job, you will:

      • Have a passion for progressive politics and inspiring young people to get involved
      • Be excited to think outside the box and to ideate and innovate to find the most exciting and effective volunteer recruitment and GOTV tactics
      • Be eager to talk to as many students as possible (and be comfortable talking to a lot of strangers/potential volunteers)
      • Be scrappy and flexible; able to manage several tasks simultaneously
      • Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills
      • Be enrolled at a Wisconsin college or university. Non-students can apply to be a full-time Campus Organizer.
