      THECB is observing a hybrid telecommuting schedule with employees required to be in the office at least two (2) days per week.

      We are located at the George Herbert Walker Bush building located in the capitol complex at 1801 Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78701.

      General Description:
      Performs moderately complex (journey-level) data analysis and data research work within the Educational Data Center (EDC). Work involves conducting detailed analysis and extensive research on funding data, providing results, and monitoring and implementing data quality. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Funding Analysis in the EDC.

      General Duties and Responsibilities:
      • Analyzes funding data using standard statistical tools, methods, and techniques such as SAS (Statistical Analysis System), SQL (Structured Query Language), Python, or similar.
      • Consults with internal and external stakeholders to identify user needs.
      • Compiles and queries funding data for use in reporting and data analysis.
      • Identifies data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by analyzing the content, structure, and relationships within data.
      • Identifies and interprets data patterns and trends and assesses data quality.
      • Prepares concise, comprehensive technical reports to present and interpret data.
      • Assists in defining, developing, and implementing data standards.
      • Assists in developing data quality measures, analyzing data quality results, and implementing necessary changes to ensure data quality improvement.
      • Perform quality assurance and serve as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation.

      Qualifications

      Required Minimum Education and Experience:
      • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data science, business analytics, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems or related field.
      • 2+ years using SAS software for data analysis and modeling or the equivalent (i.e. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), Stata, R).

      Preferred:
      • Perform advanced statistical analysis and modeling using SAS tools.
      • Experience developing and automating reports using SAS reporting tools.
      • 3+ years of experience with advanced, end-user, data preparation and manipulation tools and languages: SAS, SQL, Python, or R; be willing to adapt to new tools.
      • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of required work experience.
      • Experience with school funding or financial data.
      • Experience with higher education data.

      Work is performed in a standard office environment and requires:
