      Providing compassionate care to the children, teenagers and young adults of Central Florida for more than 30 years, Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is located on the downtown Orlando campus and includes 156 licensed beds for specialized care for children as well as the Bert Martin’s Champions for Children Emergency Department & Trauma Center, offering trauma care for children as the pediatric site of the Orlando Health ORMC Level One Trauma Center. State-of-the-art pediatric services are provided by a comprehensive staff that includes pediatric subspecialty physicians and a nursing team that is “Magnet” recognized for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. The hospital also has earned national recognition for 12 consecutive years as a “Best Children’s Hospitals” by U.S. News & World Report and was included, together with Orlando Health ORMC, in the IBM Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals® list for 2021.

      Position Summary

      Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children Seacrest Studio is seeking Therapeutic Gaming & Digital Technology Coordinator. The Therapeutic Gaming & Digital Technology Coordinator coordinates the oversight and utilization of available gaming and other innovative technology to promote therapeutic engagement with patients and families while ensuring manufacturer’s specifications for equipment are met and maintained for safe and proper use.


      Responsibilities

      Essential Functions


      • Oversees the implementation, training, usage, and technical support for all gaming-related equipment that is being utilized to promote positive patient experiences, including game systems, virtual reality, and other innovative technology.
      • Utilizes industry knowledge to implement best practices on all applicable gaming equipment and acts as a resource for the patient’s health care team around such practices through formal and informal education.
      • Collaborates with the patient’s health care team to understand and assess patient situations, as indicated, so the appropriate resource for gaming/virtual experiences will match interest, ability, and medical/psychosocial indications for benefit.
      • Coordinates both individual and group experiences while also being available to assist with larger events where gaming will be part of the activities.
      • Develops and maintains program statistics for monthly and annual tracking.
      • Provides necessary training, guidance and oversight for all volunteers who will be assisting with gaming activity.
      • Helps to build and foster partnerships with other organizations and individuals who wish to support the hospital through technologybased programming, along with the vendors who provide equipment for this use.
      • Evaluates current programs and participation so that improvements can be continually monitored, and adjustments made timely.
      • Provides necessary maintenance and inventory for all gaming-related equipment, including updates, repairs, calibrations, or other indicated routine inspections.
      • Interfaces with the Seacrest Studio team by supporting studio initiatives and assisting with some of the technical components of that space.
      • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.


      Other Related Functions


      • Participates in multidisciplinary projects and initiatives within the department and hospital as it relates to therapeutic gaming.
      • Collaborates with Clinical Engineering to align with necessary protocols and other indications for equipment use in this setting.
      • Demonstrates good financial stewardship with equipment and other resources that support gaming programming.
      • Initiates learning about child development so that gaming options are thoughtful and appropriate for this population.
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
      • Provides excellent customer service and utilizes effective communication with both guests and staff.


      Qualifications

      Education

      Associate’s degree in a technical area of study with a high level of interest and knowledge around gaming options; or Associate’s degree in the bio-sciences (child development, family sciences, psychology, or related) with paid or volunteer experience in gaming-related work or service. High school diploma with minimum of two (2) years of experience in Digital Media (or related role) role may substitute for the Associate’s degree.

      Experience

      Prior experience working with children and/or adolescents preferred.

      Gaming experience with PlayStation, Xbox, virtual, and computer streamed games.


      Education
