      What You'll Be Doing:

      • Schedule BWC requested exams with BWC Disability Evaluator Physicians (DEP); follows up with physicians to ensure timely receipt of physicians’ reports.
      • Index documents from fax queues.
      • Skilled in the operation of a PC as well as using general office equipment (e.g. Telephone, Fax, Copier)
      • Knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
      • Demonstrate effective communication skills with internal & external customers.
      • Performs other related duties as required.

      BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that can incorporate both teleworking and in-office hours. Employees may be required to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.

      3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in office practices & procedures; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations or customer service to include techniques for dealing with difficult people; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in operation of personal computer.

Note: in the telecommunications section, within the Ohio Department of Public Safety, employees will automatically be reassigned to the Customer Services Assistant 2, 64432 classification after serving 6 months as a Customer Service Assistant 1, 64431.

      Knowledge of: BWC & Industrial Commission (IC) policies & standard operating procedures*; applicable state & federal regulations governing documents processed, reviewed &/or prepared*; public relations; BWC claims documents & forms*; SI*; IC*; CCT*; BWC claims-related terminology*; scanning & imaging*; TPAs*; MCOs*; Document Renaming Policy*.

      Skill in: operation of PC to efficiently log & enter data; PS*; use of general office equipment (e.g. telephone, fax machine).

      Ability to: solve practical, everyday problems, gather, collate & classify information about data people or things; handle routine inquiries from & contacts with injured workers, employers, legislators; add, subtract, multiply, & divide whole numbers, fractions, percentages, & decimals; deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; read, copy, & record figures; read short sentences with concrete vocabulary; copy records precisely without error; gather, collate, & classify information about claim files; move fingers easily to perform manual functions repeatedly; assess questions & provide appropriate info or referral; cooperate with co-workers on group projects.

      BWC OCSEA Selection Rights:

      This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. BWC bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.
      Salary Information:
      Hourly wage is expected to be paid at step 1 of the pay range associated with the position for candidates who are new employees of the state. Current employees of the state will be placed in the appropriate step based on any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code. There may also be possible cost of living adjustments (COLA) and longevity supplements begin after five (5) years of state service.

      For any educational achievements to be considered during the screening process, you must at least attach an unofficial transcript that details the coursework you have completed.
