Deployment of Key Characteristics / Critical Features;
1D/2D tolerance analysis using stack-chaining methods and tools;
Computer modeling for 3D tolerance analysis using CATIA V5 3D CAD and integrated 3D specialist tolerancing software;
Identification and management of tolerances in the digital toolsets from research to in-service;
Creation and update of tolerances in design drawings;
Statistical analysis of assembly data.
Studying towards an Engineering degree, such as Aerospace, Mechanical, Structural, Manufacturing, or in a related field;
Good understanding of mechanics and geometry;
Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment;
Good communication and presentation skills;
Good report writing skills;
Competent user of Google Suite;
Knowledge of tolerancing standards such as ISO1101 (or similar) Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) / Geometric Product Specification (GPS) and EN9100 Key Characteristic (KC);
Principles and application of Datum and Reference Systems;
Awareness or experience of tolerancing methods;
Awareness or experience of 3D modelling techniques and tools (CAD software, CATIA).

About us:
A vacancy for a 1-year internship “Tolerancing dimensional variation management “ has arisen within Airbus in Filton (UK).
You will join the Airframe Tolerancing team (within Airbus Engineering) providing specialist tolerancing solutions for all Airbus programmes (including research programs for new technologies, new aircraft concepts and innovative industrial systems).
The Airframe Tolerancing team is a multicultural team with representatives in the UK, France, Germany and Spain, and has ties with Airbus North America and Airbus India Engineering.
If you are interested in Airframe design or manufacturing engineering then this might be just the opportunity and new challenge you have been looking for. The team based in the UK works primarily on complex metallic and composite wing structures, but also control systems.
The internship gives fascinating insight into the design, manufacture and installation of airframe and, particularly, wing structures. Understanding how a wing is designed, and manufactured, and applying appropriate tolerancing solutions is essential for achieving the required quality, cost and timing in a competitive market. You will have the opportunity to visit the Airbus Wing assembly plant in the UK.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills vital to the global aircraft market and beyond!
What you will be doing:
The Tolerancing team integrates within multiple functions such as engineering design and stress, aerodynamics, manufacturing, and quality departments, within a global digitalised environment.
During the internship you will support the team in providing the engineering programmes with specialist tolerance inputs and outputs.
